BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.13 APOPHIS
The locally-trained APOPHIS is first emergency here just needing to secure a start and should prove the horse to beat in this contest. Last start, the Super One gelding resumed after six months off the scene and showing no signs of fatigue, finished best to take out a BM70 Hcp, here over 1000m on a soft track. With Georgina Cartwright aboard that day, she sat back in the field and simply finished over the top of them to score a comfortable win in the end. Already a winner when second-up and now a winner at the track and distance, Cartwright is locked-in for the ride and just one scratching will see her line-up and prove hard to beat.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3: No.15 OCEAN ZAR
Down in the weights here, the O’Dea & Hoysted-trained OCEAN ZAR has up until last start, been on fire but looks well placed here to bounce back and grab her third career victory in this contest. Last start, the Zoustar mare was third-up and high flying when she finished down the track in a BM68, here over the mile. A post-race Vet exam showed signs of dehydration, explaining the poor effort that day. Dropping back to the 1400m here, Boris Thornton sticks with her for this assignment where she does little to no work from gate two. Unbeaten in two starts on this track, she can do it again in this event.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2: No.9 WHO ORDERED DAFISH
The Kevin Kemp-trained WHO ORDERED DAFISH is high flying this time in and looks well placed here to keep the wheels turning in this contest. First-up, the Headwater gelding enjoyed a big win on fresh legs, breaking through for his maiden win at WARWICK on a heavy track. He has since franked that form by finding the podium at his past two starts. The latest of those saw him beat all but one home in a Class 1 against city gallopers where he was beaten a neck on the line, here over 1400m with the in-form Cejay Graham aboard. Meeting similar company here over the mile this time, Graham sticks with him and he looks set to fight this out.
