BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.16  OPAL RIDGE  ($3.95 with BoomBet)

The Luke Pepper-trained OPAL RIDGE has done enough in her lead-up races to suggest she is a prime candidate to take home the Tiara here. Last start, the Rubick filly covered more territory than Bourke & Wills and was impressive when beating all but Comrade Rosa home, here two weeks ago in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes over 1300m. Whilst having to settle for second prize, she was still finishing better than the winner in the closing stages and another 10-20 metres would have made things interesting that day. Here,. She gets the extra 100m and is drawn much better in gate six. Tyler Schiller keeps the ride and already a two-time winner with the filly, he gets to avenge that last start defeat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8:  No.7  KING KAPA  ($7.50 with Ladbrokes)

Tony Gollan saddles-up KING KAPA here who is back on track after three starts back and looks well placed here for back-to-back wins. Last start, the Capitalist gelding came off a minor placing in the Listed Chief De Beers at Doomben when he lined up in a field of 17 in the Listed Hinkler Hcp and held them all at bay to take home the major prize. Ben Thompson rode him a treat that day and sticks with him here. This is a little tougher but he has the runs on the board (winning six of his seventeen starts) and rock-hard fit after three runs back, he is in the mix here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No.18  FIELD WIRI  ($9 with Neds)

The Team Freedman-trained FIELD WIRI is second emergency here but gains a start after early scratchings and with a favourable run here, looks a solid winning chance in this company. Last start, the Deep Field mare was fresh off a 15-week break when she finished third in a BM72 Hcp over 1100m at Warwick Farm. She drew wide that day (11 of 14) and turning the widest, ran home solidly to grab the minor prize, beaten a length on the line. Placed three times in four previous second-up appearances, the extra distance will suit and with Ben Thompson aboard, she looks great value in this contest.
