BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.5 MIGHTY WILLIE ($3.80 with Ladbrokes)
The Chris Waller-trained MIGHTY WILLIE is in great touch this preparation and looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the well-bred American Pharoah gelding made it a hat-trick of top-three finishes when he beat all but one home in a BM78 Hcp, here over 2218m. He box-seated to the turn then took on the leader (Namakwa) where he eye-balled the Robert Heathcote-trained galloper but just couldn’t get passed him and had to settle for second prize. The stable have reacted by slapping the blinkers back on him for today’s assignment. James Orman returns for his third ride on the five-year-old, having ridden him to victory three starts back. He drops in grade today and comes back in distance as well. Four starts into this campaign, he should be at his peak today and will take beating.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.2 TRANQUIL BAY ($6.50 with BlueBet)
The Robert Heathcote-trained TRANQUIL BAY is in good touch after four starts this time in and seeing the Farm for the first time today, looks in the mix here. Last start, the Cable Bay mare came off a Class 3 Plate win at the Sunshine Coast when she stepped up in grade and wasn’t disgraced taking home third prize in a BM78 over 1300m at the same track. Ben Thompson was aboard for both runs and sticks with the five-year-old for this assignment. The mare draws gate five today and maps to settle just off the speed. With a trouble-free run here, she is capable of taking this contest out.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.8 JOVITA ($9.10 with BoomBet)
Lee Freedman saddles-up JOVITA here who is third-up and looks ready to strike. Last start, the Snitzel mare had her second start for the Freedman stable, (after transferring from the Mark Newnham camp), where she made it two-straight podium finishes by collecting third prize in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Ipswich with Taylor Marshall aboard. She has plenty of upside and will strip even fitter for her first look at the Farm today. Marshall remains aboard for this contest and coming in well at the weights, she can give this a real shake at odds today.
