Race 7 No. 4 OSAMU – ($3.40)
Up in class and down in weight looks like a good recipe to land with OSAMU while drawn perfectly inside. Controlled the race comfortably over this track and trip when resuming in a benchmark 75. The field left him alone to their detriment as Osamu kicked to put a gap on them into the straight. Will cop a bit more pressure up front, however, is two from two here and deserves his chance in this class.

Race 5 No. 6 PUTONTHEREDLIGHT – ($5)
Should think the big field will build enough pressure to run along for PUTONTHEREDLIGHT to pick them up in time. Jim Byrne sticks after finding them a little too sharp coming back to 1110 metres at Doomben as Uncommon James kept running to score. Had her chance under William Pike the start prior when still last at the 400m. Pike still had her close enough if good enough with Putontheredlight coming home like a train out wide. Those back to the inside found enough of a kick late off that even tempo to deny her inside the last 100 metres. She ran a similar race in Listed grade over this trip the start prior and now finds a race without the depth of her past few.

Race 3 No. 5 ROSE OF SHIRAZ – ($17)
There was plenty of merit in the run of ROSE OF SHIRAZ in similar forecast conditions here a fortnight ago. She can get a little keen in the run which prompted Anthony Allen to allow her to stride forward from her outside draw. Rose Of Shiraz followed a good pace set by the leader in Spiritualised to find herself no match as that horse found a kick. It took Honeypot to come out of the pack to grab Spiritualised on the line. Rose Of Shiraz could have thrown the towel in as the winner rushed past, however to her credit she did keep finding strongly to the line. Drawn out again and would daresay Luke Tarrant allows her to stride into a forward role while up in trip.
