BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 7 GARZA BLANCA- ($2.25)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for GARZA BLANCA. The Maher/Eustace galloper steps out for his second career start and should find this easier than a debut effort that saw him finish 8th at Sandown over the 1200m on August 24. He started as a $4.60 favourite that day but could only manage 8th behind Japanese Emperor. Blinkers go on and worth noting that he comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner. Ethan Brown rides and the pair draw well in barrier 6.

Race 7 No. 4 TIME RULER- ($6)

I didn’t mind the Australian debut by TIME RULER at Sandown on September 9 over the 1000m and the former Kiwi can go a few spots better this time around. At Sandown, he settled leaders back in the small field and stuck on well to finish just over three lengths behind La Danseuse Rouge. The runner-up out of that race has since gone on to claim a BenchMark 64. Time Ruler went 0.1 lengths faster than standard benchmark at Sandown, which is nearly eight lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. He draws wide for this but the step up to the 1200m should suit and the son of Time Test has attracted some support in the early betting.

Race 3 No. 2 GRISBI’S PAL- ($9.50)

This might be the one for the 12-start Maiden, GRISBI’S PAL. The four-year-old took a bit of time to get going this preparation but has placed at his past three starts. Last time out he appeared at Wodonga and couldn’t quite match the promising Diamond Model, filling the exacta behind that horse but putting a bit of a gap on the rest. The four-year-old went four lengths slower than standard benchmark in that race and comes in with the best last start figures of any runner.
