BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.2 HEART OF A LION ($4 with Unibet)
The Mark Currie-trained HEART OF A LION cops a reality check here as she drops sharply in grade and looks much more at home in the country today. Last start, the Niagara mare was all-at-sea when she lined-up in a BM78 over 2200m at the Gold Coast. On a Heavy 8 that day, she did well to finish fourth in the race but was beaten nine lengths in the process, clearly showing her dislike to the heavy conditions. She still covered the journey, half a length slower than benchmark, the best last start effort here by more than 8 lengths. This is a big drop in class today and she looks better suited in this company. With the drier conditions here, we should see a different mare running around today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9: No.10 DREAM ENTITY ($5.50 with Neds)
Beaudesert galloper DREAM ENTITY is in consistent form this time in and looks well placed here to record her fourth career win today. Last start, the Dream Ahead mare gave her rivals a galloping lesson when she put two lengths on a BM62 field over 1100m at the Gold Coast. On a Heavy 10 that day, Jasmine Cornish rode the mare a real treat for father Greg as she settled the mare mid-field early, then took control in the run home to record a comfortable win. The apprentice has ridden the mare in 14 of her 17 starts to date and in that time, steered her to all of her podium finishes and remains in the saddle for today’s assignment. Back to country company today, she looks a genuine threat here at odds.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 10: No.8 SUPER LEAGUE ($6 with Palmerbet)
Mark Currie saddles-up SUPER LEAGUE here and in her current form, she looks a genuine contender in this field. Last start, the Star Witness mare was third-up when she broke through for her Maiden win over 1050m at Toowoomba. Well ridden by Cody Collis, she sat two pairs back (on the fence) then on straightening, Collis eased her out and timing his run perfectly, she finished much too strongly for them that night, winning by a length, eased on the line. This looks no harder and she gets the gun-run from gate one today. Collis remains aboard and this looks a winning combination again in this contest.
