Race 2:  No.7  ASSERTIN LADY  ($1.45 with Palmerbet)

Formerly with Kris Lees, ASSERTIN LADY is now with the Paul Butterworth stables at Eagle Farm and two starts in her new environment has led to consecutive podium finishes. The Artie Schiller mare finished second when on debut for the new stable, then last start, repeated that effort over 1400m. Both starts were at the Beaudesert track and had Maddy Wishart aboard for both events. She did it tough last start, drawing the car park in gate 14 (of 14), leaving Wishart no choice but to push forward and lead on settling. The four-year-old did a mighty job to take home second prize that day, using up most of her fuel early. She ran a new personal best in the race, covering the trip, 4 lengths slower than benchmark, also the best last-start effort in this field. Wishart sticks with her today and has options after drawing gate two. She maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with the (pre-post) odds-on favourite (Master Tyler) now scratched from the event, all the money has come for her and it makes her job that much easier. We have made her our ‘Anchor Bet’ for the day and she looks well worth including in your multi’s today.

Race 6:  No.6  SEQUESAY  ($3.90 with Neds)

The Team Sears-trained SEQUESAY has won four of her nine career starts to date and second-up today, looks a strong chance of back-to-back wins. Last start, the Rothesay mare was resuming from a 12-week spell when her fresh legs got the job done, taking out a BM70 Hcp over the 870m sprint at Toowoomba. From gate one, she jumped and led from barrier to box with Steph Lacy in the saddle. She covered the trip, 5.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 4 lengths. This looks no harder and Lacy is sticking with her for today’s challenge. She thrives over the short sprint distances with her five previous runs ending in three wins and two runner-up finishes. Already a winner when second-up, whatever beats here should be winning the race.

Race 9:  No.3  I AM READY  ($5.50 with BlueBet)

Toowoomba galloper I AM READY is third-up today and yet to miss a podium finish this time in, could upset this field at good odds. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare improved from her first-up effort when she beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1000m on her home track. Trying to lead all the way, she set a good pace and fought on strongly but was grabbed by a swooper in the last 50 metres. She gets the gun-run today from gate one and maps to be on speed. Placed third-up previously, she will strip fitter for those two fresh runs and at generous odds today, she looks well worth an investment here.
