Race 4 No. 7 L’IL PIPER – ($7)

The horse with the ability in the fourth race at Gawler is L’IL PIPER. We probably need to take on trust to some degree following her buck-jumping display when resuming at Morphettville. Li’l Piper has since trialled well enough here to warrant confidence going into this race. The improving track helps too as she really doesn’t want too much juice in the ground. She should get the pace on in this with Archery Butts expected to run them along. Sometimes it’s best to be positive early after finding their feet with horses who played up the start prior. Ryan Hurdle won’t be letting the leader get too far out of his sights and he knows Li’l Piper well having won on her previously.

Race 5 No. 5 BAJAN BELLE – ($6.50)

Ryan Balfour has found a nice race for his city-winning mare BAJAN BELLE in this Class Two while racing second-up. Showed good pace on debut last prep to settle outside the leader before denying all-comers for a strong win over 1000 metres on the Parks track. Forgive her second-up run behind the smart Sigh with Balfour tipping Bajan Belle out shortly afterwards. Showed an abundance of speed once Alana Livesey gave her time to find her feet on Melbourne Cup Day at Morphettville. Found no answers for the winner in Sabermetric that day while holding the rest to the line. Pace map doesn’t look too bad for Bajan Belle who may be able to cross and lead again for Livesey.

Race 3 No. 13 SEPORIA – ($5.50)

Tommy Stokes found some improvement with SEPORIA when racing over 1200 metres here last start. The filly was racing second-up and wasn’t the best away once again. She soon travelled well between horses for Sophie Logan and was building into the race on the turn. Logan had her into the clear by the time they straightened with Seporia showing no real burst of speed. She still ground home okay despite wanting to lay in from about the furlong to the winning post. Stable senior Kayla Crowther takes the ride with Seporia now fitter for the two runs back. Step up in trip should suit, and Crowther might be able to track a little closer off the gentler 1500 metre tempo.
