BEST BET 🏆
Race 9 No. 12 L’IL PIPER – ($12)
We landed with L’IL PIPER as our Best Bet of the day when racing back to the provincials her two starts ago. She pinged the lids for Ryan Hurdle before coming back underneath her rider through the early stages. Hurdle quickly got her off the fence before allowing her to come to the middle part of the track. The mare does have a few tricks up her sleeve, and so does her rider. Hurdle just went with her before giving Li’l Piper a flick with the whip to arrest the lead before keeping her balanced with hands and heels. Li’l Piper’s racing manners improved at her next run in town when settling just off the pace. She hit the line well for second place under Hurdle and can figure in the finish again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4 No. 2 GETOUTTHEWAY – ($8)
Tough older gelding GETOUTTHEWAY has been well placed in restricted 62 grade by his trainer Sue Nolan. Ran in a benchmark 62 over this track and trip three runs back when he found himself a long way back on some ground that was chopping out a bit. Stormed home between horses then as the race was all over to ensure Bellavardo earned the win. He then ran a big race back on top of the ground in the Gawler Cup. Getouttheway finished between horses that day when beaten less than two lengths by Montign. They just walked up front in town at latest with Nolan allowing a break between runs.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6 No. 1 TERBIUM – ($9.50)
The Stokes camp present the class of the field in TERBIUM who resumes after having the one public trial under his belt. Showed good gate speed to lead a restricted field during that trial at Strathalbyn. Kayla Crowther never asked of him as Terbium ran out a narrow winner in good time to the day. The runner-up Versetto and third placed They Call Me Alvin have since filled the quinella over 1000 metres at Murray Bridge. Terbium wasn’t beaten far off the winner Free Of Debt when resuming in the Listed Wylie Handicap last time in. He’s a winner here, drawn a treat and races well fresh.
