BEST BET 🏆
Race 3 No. 8 PRETENTIOUS LASS – ($2.80)
Strathalbyn trainer Greg Lesnikowski have a few horses worth keeping an eye on in his stable, and PRETENTIOUS LASS is one of them. She put in an impressive trial at Murray Bridge where she won her heat by three lengths prior to catching the eye on debut. Jason Holder allowed her to find her feet towards the rear at Morphettville as the pace was on in front. He pulled Pretentious Lass as the widest runner on straightening, and she continued powerfully to the line to fill a minor. Finished similarly on a leaderish day at Balaklava and gets her chance here at Gawler.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1 No. 5 THE SNOW BURNER – ($4.40)
We backed THE SNOW BURNER as he resumed from a long layoff in a maiden at Bordertown. Felt he his nice low action held him as a candidate to get through the heavy track. He finished powerfully to miss the photo with the place getters and we were happy to watch in the provincials last time. Sairyn Fawke had him around midfield the fence on a typical leaderish Balaklava track. Picked up well between horses despite the chequered path and he’s getting close to a win.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6 No. 7 FAST AND FLEXIBLE – ($23)
The new training partnership of Greg Lesnikowski & Ryan Hannemann are building a handy team and FAST AND FLEXIBLE is getting close to another win. The staying-type was a surprise winner on the Heavy 9 first-up over 1100 metres on her home track of Strathalbyn. Has steadily progressed out to a trip where she ran a bold race over 2100 metres at Gawler. Trapped deep without cover throughout, Ben Price made the midrace move to eject some pace into the event. Fast And Flexible turned for home with a margin on the others. She got through the Soft 7 and ran the trip out only to be beaten by one who had the cold sit. Has drawn for a comfortable run handy to the speed this time and can go one better here.
