Geelong Tips 02/04/2024
BEST BET 🏆
Race 2 No. 6 UNIVERSAL HARMONY – ($2.35)
UNIVERSAL HARMONY can break through in Race 2 at Geelong. The Team Hayes-trained galloper has had the four career starts for four placings and led at Benalla on March 11 over the 1200m before being outgunned late by Simplicity. He enjoyed a big gap on the rest of them and went 3.8 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is more than two lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. The son of Brave Smash produced a similar figure at his start prior when 3rd at Sandown. He has the early speed to negotiate the barrier and this looks slightly easier than recent runs.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7 No.5 ETARA – ($3.10)
This looks to be a suitable assignment for ETARA. The Symon Wilde-trained galloper was a six-length Maiden winner when resuming at Colac on February 9 before tackling a BenchMark 64 at Sandown on March 20 and placing 6th behind Some People Callme. They went hard in that race and the daughter of Tarzino was solid in the latter stages, going 4.8 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is more than seven lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner in this race. This looks much easier and Damian Lane jumps on board.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6 No. 9 RUSSIAN SUMMER- ($11)
A number of runners come into this first up and RUSSIAN SUMMER can take advantage with the fitness edge. The Mark & Levi Kavanagh-trained galloper has had the three runs this time in and was an improver last time at Bendigo over the 1300m when running on to fill the exacta behind Bellini Miss. The son of Russian Revolution can tuck in just behind the speed from barrier 3 and will be hard to hold out late in the piece.
MULTI ANCHOR ⚓
Race 3 No. 3 INEXORABLE- ($1.40)
INEXORABLE should be hard to beat in Race 3. The three-year-old has placed in four of five starts and was excellent when stepping up to the 1600m at Caulfield on March 16, finishing 3rd behind Fistoffury. He produced the equal fastest last 400m in that race. This is a massive class drop and the step to the 1740m looks like it will suit.
