BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 7 MISS SUBTLY- ($2.90)

MISS SUBTLY shapes as the one to beat in the opening event of the day. The Grahame Begg-trained filly has finished runner-up in all of her three starts to date and was run down by Nanagui here two starts ago before heading to Moonee Valley and just missing behind Clarity. This looks easier and she went 1.2 lengths slower than standard last time, which is better than what any of the raced contenders have produced. Look for her to cross from barrier 10 and with Jordan Childs in the saddle she should be in it for a long way.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 9 GWITHIAN BAY- ($7)

GWITHIAN BAY shapes as an each-way player in Race 8 of the day. The Mike Moroney-trained galloper has had three runs in Australia since coming over from New Zealand and was solid late in the piece when 7th over the 1300m at Sandown before leading over the 1400m at Pakenham on the Synthetic, where she was run down late by Lulu Darling. Wouldn’t mind seeing her ridden a bit more conservatively here from the wide barrier and think she should be better suited back on the Turf. Figures from her Sandown run are better than what any horse in this race has produced and the 1325m looks as though it will suit.

BEST VALUE 💰(EACH-WAY)

Race 9 No. 8 WEGOBAM – ($11)

Been a while in between drinks for WEGOBAM but the five-year-old looks suited in Race 9. She has had four runs this preparation and was runner-up at Cranbourne two starts ago before having a couple of excuses when 5th over the 1300m here on September 4 when the leaders got away in a slowly run race. The daughter of Sebring produced her peak benchmark at this stage of her last preparation when 3rd in a BenchMark 70 at Sandown and has drawn perfectly in barrier 4.
