Race 5 No. 1 RIVERPLATE– ($2.50)

RIVERPLATE can go on with the job in Race 5. The four-year-old finally broke the maiden, doing it in style at Sandown last time when scoring by nearly four lengths from Lady Jones, while there was a similar gap back to 3rd. The former Kiwi produced some promising performances before coming over and the penny looks to have dropped.

Race 1 No. 6 HIGHLAND HILL- ($2.40)

The Maiden gallopers stretch out over the 2400m in the opener and HIGHLAND HILL can take this out. The Robbie Griffiths and Matt de Kock-trained galloper has had the three career runs and was 4th behind the handy Dunkel at Moonee Valley on October 28 before getting out to the 2050m at Moe and placing 3rd behind Gottabesavvy. He settled handy to stick on, going 2.8 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner and the second best that any has produced. Worth noting that the Moe race has also produced three winners. Blake Shinn rides and the pair should be in it for a long way.

Race 2 No. 7 MIGHTY SAPPHIRE- ($3.40)

Keen to see how MIGHTY SAPPHIRE fares at his first run back from a spell. The Mike Moroney-trained galloper was 4th at his only race start back in June behind Meridius, while Atmosphere was 3rd. Those two have gone on to bigger and better things and Mighty Sapphire produced the second fastest last 200m behind Meridius that day over the 1100m. The son of Russian Revolution tackles the 1200m and with any improvement over the break he should be hard to hold out.

Race 3 No. 6 HELLCHAT- ($7)

Looking for another early winner and it is HELLCHAT that can break through at the third run of his campaign. She closed off well for 3rd when resuming at Traralgon on the Heavy on October 29 over the 1100m before heading to Moonee Valley and running on fairly for 5th over the 1200m behind Aoraki Summit, going 0.6 lengths slower than standard. That is a better figure than what any runner in this race has produced. Back at a country level, she should be hard to hold out.
