Race 3:  No.3  CHILLIWACK  ($4.80 with Palmerbet)

Local galloper CHILLIWACK won for us last time and looks just as promising in this event. Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding was second-up when he took care of a BM65 Hcp, here over 1100m. On an unfavoured Heavy 9 that day, he crossed the line more than a length in front of them where he ran his last 600m, 2.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Jag Guthmann-Chester remains in the saddle here and already a winner when third-up and a three-time winner at the track, he looks to hold most of the trump cards in this contest.

Race 6:  No.2  LORD MARKEL  ($2.80 with bet365)

The locally-trained LORD MARKEL is also a track specialist and after winning two of his three starts this time in, he looks poised for another victory here. Last start, the Hallowed Crown gelding destroyed an Open Class Hcp, here over 1350m. On a Heavy 10 that day, he was third-up when he put more than two lengths on them across the line. He drops 1.5kgs here as he meets similar company to last start. Drawn in gate five, he maps to settle back for this race but will be running on strongly at the finish. Rock-hard fit after three starts, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 2:  No.1  BEAU WITNESS  ($3.20 with bet365)

Toowoomba galloper BEAU WITNESS makes his Gold Coast debut here and looks well placed for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Star Witness colt was second-up when he clobbered his Maiden rivals over 1100m on his home track. Putting four lengths on them over the line, he covered the trip, 3.7 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Michael Murphy sticks with him here and fitter for two runs this preparation, he should prove hard to beat.
