Local galloper MYSTERIOUS ART boasts a solid record here and looks well placed to carry on with his success this preparation. Last start, he was third-up and did best to take out a BM58 Hcp, here over 1100m. He finished strongly that day, covering the last 600m, 1.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. This isn’t much harder and with Robbie Fradd remaining in the saddle, he draws nicely in gate three and maps to settle just behind the pace. With a trouble-free run, he shapes up as a leading candidate for the major prize here.

Race 4:  No.2  BETTER ETHICS  ($5 with Ladbrokes)

The Lindsay Hatch-trained BETTER ETHICS I in career-best form of late and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding broke the shackles of seven minor money finishes when he cracked it for win number six when he took out a BM70 Hcp over 1850m at his home track Toowoomba. He ran that out, 2.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field. Robbie Fradd has the reins here and from an ideal draw in gate two, he will take catching again.

Race 1:  No.5  NICCI DE ROSA  ($8 with Neds)

Toowoomba galloper NICCI DE ROSA has found the podium three times this preparation and looks well placed here to do it again. Last start, the Nicconi filly stepped-up to a BM60 challenge where she wasn’t disgraced when finishing third over the 1000m sprint at Toowoomba. She ran the last 600m, 1 length quicker than benchmark, still the best here. Rock-hard fit after five runs so far this preparation, Robbie Fradd takes charge here and dropping back to Class 1 company here, she may prove a handful to this field at odds.
