BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 :  No. 3  SPILL THE SECRET  ($2.60 with bet365)

The Michael Lakey-trained SPILL THE SECRET has finished a bridesmaid at his past couple but gets his chance here to shake the Maiden monkey off his back. Last start, he took home second prize again when he beat all but one home, here in a 1350m Maiden. He ran the trip out, 1.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, a new personal best and the best last-start effort in this field by more than 5 lengths. He maps to settle just off the pace from gate six and with a clear run home, he can give this contest a real shake.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7 :  No. 3  THE LIONESS  ($3.80 with bet365)

Team Edmonds saddle-up THE LIONESS here and second-up on her home track, will take beating. Last start, the Exosphere mare resumed from a lengthy five-month absence and gave a good account of herself, finishing second in Open company over 1050m at Rockhampton. She ran her last 600m 2.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, which rates comparatively against her rivals here. She also recorded the fastest final 800m, 600m and 200m sectionals for that race. Three starts here have resulted in two wins and a close-up second and she did end her last campaign as a winner in city company at Doomben when she took out a NMW Hcp over 1350m. She has plenty of ability and looks a real threat here.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 :  No. 3  UNCLE BUD  ($10 with Palmerbet)

Toowoomba galloper UNCLE BUD makes his Gold Coast debut here and on current form, looks right in the mix. Last start, the Falvelon gelding made it five-straight podium finishes when he grabbed third prize in a BM58 Hcp over 1200m on his home track. He ran the last 600m, 2.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here. The stable have put the winkers on him for the first time here and from gate five, he maps to settle mid-field early. Micheal Hellyer has his first ride on the four-year-old and with a trouble-free run, he looks a genuine chance in this field.
