Race 8:  No.2  HOLYFIELD  ($2.30 with bet365)

Back for a second crack at the Aquis Park circuit, the Annabel Neasham-trained HOLYFIELD is second-up here and looks set for back-to-back victories. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding resumed off a 17-week spell when he made it look easy in winning the Listed Keith Noud Hcp (1200m) on fresh legs. Despite a lack of race fitness, he ran the trip out in a personal best effort, covering the trip, 11.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 4 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. He is already a two-time winner when second-up and has Brodie Loy sticking with him after saluting on him four times to date. He looks the testing material here.

Race 3:  No.9  AKIHIRO  ($4 with bet365)

The Gary Portelli-trained AKIHIRO makes his Gold Coast debut here and third-up looks set to make it a noticeable one. Last start, the four-year-old made a sound impression when he beat all but one home in a Class 6 Hcp over the mile at Doomben. He ran a personal best that day, covering the 1600m, 6.4 lengths quicker than benchmark, also the equal best here. Tegan Harrison rode him a treat, despite some early overracing. Harrison is with him here again and from the ideal draw in gate two, he does no early work as he maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence. With a trouble-free run here, he can finish over the top of these and take home the major prize.

Race 6:  No.5  SHAMATON  ($4.80 with Palmerbet)

Tony Gollan saddles-up a few here with SHAMATON standing out as the most likely to succeed here. Last start, the Whittington gelding was third-up when he made it consecutive runner-up finishes, beating all but one home in a BM85 Hcp over 1110m at Doomben. He ran the last 600m out, 5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Already a winner at the track and distance, James Orman is the fourth rider in as many starts to have the reins but the five-year-old couldn’t be in better hands and rock-hard fit after three runs this time in, he will take beating here.
