Race 8:  No.2  FLYING SHELLY  

Second-up today, the Bjorn Baker-trained FLYING SHELLY ticks enough boxes here to suggest she will take beating in this contest today. Last start, the Flying Artie mare resumed off a lengthy eight-month absence when she beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1100m at Wyong with Jett Stanley aboard. She meets similar company here and will strip fitter for that first-up run. The four-year-old is already a winner when second-up and has a victory at the track and distance on her resume as well. Stanley steers the ship again and with a trouble-free run today, she looks thew goods here.

Race 5:  No.4  EVERYONE’S A STAR

Hawkesbury galloper, EVERYONE’S A STAR is three starts into this preparation and back to the country scene today, looks well placed here to bounce back. Last start, the Star Turn mare came off an impressive Class 1 win at Wyong when she took on city class horses and came off worse for wear when she finished second-last in a BM72 over 1100m at Randwick. She drops in grade today and has Rory Hutchings back on board (after steering her to that Wyong victory two start back. She is a two-time winner over the 1000m and finished runner-up at her only start on the Gosford track. Ideally drawn in gate two today, we should see a different horse here.

Race 7:  No.2  OAKFIELD MAHOGANY 

Damien Lane saddles-up OAKFIELD MAHOGANY here who is in good touch this time in and looks a serious threat to this field today. Last start, the Capitalist gelding was third-up and fared well when finishing fourth against city class gallopers in a BM72 over 1250m at Canterbury, beaten just two lengths on the line. Down in grade today, the five-year-old should find this contest a little easier as he returns to country class company. Already a winner here and a winner when fourth-up last preparation, he maps to settle near the speed from gate four and should prove hard to hold out today.
