BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.7 OAKEYS CHOICE ($1.90 with bet365)
Nowra-based galloper OAKEY’S CHOICE resumes today and looks well placed to give this a real shake. Last start, the Headwater gelding made his racing debut (on this track) and was an instant success, winning the 900m Maiden contest by more than a length with Jess Taylor on board. He ran it out, half a length slower than benchmark, the best effort here by more than 3 lengths. He also recorded the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. That’s a fair effort on debut. He returns today after a six-month absence but has trialled recently where Jess Taylor got him to the line, a whisker behind the winner. Taylor has the reins again today and with a trouble-free run he should prove very hard to beat. *The money has come for him, in from $2.80 overnight.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.4 REOFFENDER ($6.50 with Unibet)
Warwick Farm galloper REOFFENDER loves racing here and third-up today looks ideally placed for another top-class performance. Last start, the Snitzel gelding ploughed through the Heavy 9 conditions and finished well enough to grab third prize in a BM66 Hcp, here over 1400m. He steps up to the mile today which looks ideal for him at this stage. His glowing resume shows he has had seven starts at this track for two wins and five minor placings. Unbeaten when third-up, he warrants serious thought here and right in the mix today at odds.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.3 DESIGN ARTIST ($6 with Palmerbet)
The Canberra-based DESIGN ARTIST appears to have found her mojo again and looks up to this challenge today. Last start, the Al Maher mare stepped-up in class and on a Heavy 9, beat all but one home in a Class 3 over 1200m at Wagga. Beaten just a neck on the line, she covered the trip, 5 lengths slower than benchmark, the best in this line-up. She has extra weight to carry today but is dropping sharply in grade here as Billy Owen retains the ride. Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to settle just off the pace, possibly box-seating. Placed at her only start at the track, she is capable of figuring here and with a trouble-free run, looks great value in this contest.
