BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.9 QUALITY MISS
The Team Snowden-trained QUALITY MISS has shown improvement at each start and third-up today looks a major player in this contest. Last start, the Merchant Navy filly was never on the track as she raced three-wide just behind the leaders. In the run home, she fanned even wider and finished off down the centre of the track, but hit the line strongly to take home second prize in a 1000m Maiden on a Heavy 9 at Muswellbrook. She comes up with gate three today and maps to be just behind the speed, with cover this time. Tom Sherry is the new pilot and fitter for two runs back, she has her best chance yet of breaking through today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.3 JACK OF ACES
Warwick Farm visitor, JACK OF ACES is in good touch this time in and after breaking through last start, looks set to go on with it today. The Xtravagant gelding was four starts into this campaign when he stepped-up to the mile trip for the first time and clobbered them in the 1600m Maiden event at Gosford. With Grant Buckley aboard, he was box-seating on settling then peeled off the leader’s heels on straightening and raced away to win by two lengths on the line. He draws the middle of the pack today and will have to do some early work as he maps to settle better than midfield. Buckley steers the ship again and with a little luck in running, he can find clean air early and give this contest a real shake.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.3 INVASIVE
Annabel Neasham has INVASIVE on the float today and third-up here, ticks enough boxes to raise plenty of interest in his chances of taking out this contest. Last start, the Invader gelding stripped fitter after his first-up run when he led from barrier to box in a Class 2 Hcp over 1290m at Orange. He hung out in the run home but still managed to hold off the challenges and get the job done that day. He has three victories and as many minor placings next to his name already and is a winner when third-up. Angus Villiers is the new pilot today and after the claim, the four-year-old carries 3kgs less than his last-start win. Placed at the track and distance previously, he looks good value against this field and well worth an each-way ticket here.
