BEST BET 🏆

Race 2:  No.1  FLYING DESTINY  ($3.20 with Palmerbet)

The Michael Freedman-trained FLYING DESTINY is yet to miss a podium finish in three starts and looks the testing material in this contest. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding came across one a little quicker and had to settle for second prize in a Class 1 Hcp over 1300m at Hawkesbury. He covered the trip, 3.7 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here. Rory Hutchings steered him to his maiden victory three starts back and returns here for today’s assignment. He draws the outside gate today but has the early gate speed to cross and lead them on settling. Rock-hard fit after three starts, he should prove hard to run down here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1:  No.2  AS YOU WERE  ($3.40 with Ladbrokes)

Warwick Farm galloper AS YOU WERE is second-up today and looks well placed here to bring up his second career win. Last start, the Per Incanto gelding was fresh off a 10-month absence when he finished mid-field in a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at Gosford. Despite missing a money-finish, he hit the line well, covering his last 600m, 1 length quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort in this field. He trialled well prior to that run, winning the first and running second in his last effort. The stable put the tongue tie back on for this contest as he returns to the track where it all began, winning his maiden here over 1200m. Keagan Latham has the reins again today where he maps well in gate four and should settle a little worse than mid-field. Already a winner when second-up and a winner at the track, he looks the pick of the crop here,

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.10  BURRANDANA  ($5 with Neds)

The Wagga based BURRANDANA makes his track debut today and brings a glowing resume with him. Last start, the Duporth gelding was shooting for four-straight wins when he had to settle for third prize in the SDRA Championships Qualifier over 1400m at Albury. He drew the car park that day (gate 16 of 16) and did a mighty job to score a podium finish that day. He ran his last 600m, 2.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up, while posting the fastest final 800m and 600m sectionals as well. Billy Owen sticks with him today and with a better start and clear run home, he looks a genuine chance of victory today.
