BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.8 SAVEADATEFORME ($2 with Unibet)
The John O’Shea-trained SAVEADATEFORME took just two starts to find the winner’s circle and looks the testing material here. Last start, the Savabeel colt was having just his second race start when he clobbered his maiden rivals in a1400m contest at Kembla Grange. With 58kgs on his back, he settled back in the field, leaving gate seven of eight, and on straightening, fanned wide and quickly took control, going on to win by 2.5 lengths on the line. He ran his last 600, 1.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals as well. He achieved all that on a Heavy 8 that day. If he can reproduce that effort here, they will find it very difficult to prevent him from going back-to-back today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.6 MIDNIGHT OASIS ($3.20 with Palmerbet)
Warwick Farm galloper MIDNIGHT OASIS is in top form this time in and returns to Goulburn for a second shot at victory on the track. Last start, the So You Think mare came off a minor placing on this track when she headed to Nowra and ended up an easy winner, taking out a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m. On a Heavy 9 that day, she jumped from the outside gate (7) where Blake Spriggs settled her last of the seven. She had plenty of fuel in the tank on straightening and passed them in a heartbeat, going on to win by two lengths on the line under hands and heels only. Stepping up in grade today, Spriggs sticks with her and well-weighted here, she will can still figure in the finish.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.13 MENSA MISSILE ($7.50 with TAB)
With almost a third of the field already scratched from this year’s Cup, it makes the job all that easier for the Tulloch Lodge galloper MENSA MISSILE to take home the silverware for Gai and Adrian today. Last start, the Smart missile gelding came off a good win at Rosehill when he missed back-to-back victories by a whisker, finishing second behind Zoushack in a BM78 over 1400m at Warwick Farm. He ran that trip out, 6 lengths quicker than benchmark, a new personal best for him and the best last-start effort in this line-up. He also recorded the fastest final 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals for the race. Three starts into this campaign and coming off two city class runs, he looks well placed here and coming in on the limit (54kgs), they will be flat-out keeping him at bay and taking the Cup back to Sydney.
