BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.6 FULL PRESS ($4.60 with Palmerbet)
The Brett Dodson-trained FULL PRESS is in career-best form of late and as a track specialist here looks well placed in this contest to add another feather in his cap today. Last start, the Press Statement gelding made it four-straight top0two finishes when he took out a BM58 Hcp, here over the mile trip. In a tight finish, he covered the journey, 4.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this line-up. He also recorded the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the contest. He drops back in distance here where he is already a two-time winner and is reunited with Matthew Bennett who has steered him to half his career wins. He maps to settle mid-field with cover from gate seven and in the form he is in at the moment, win number three at the track looks a distinct possibility today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.2 AHEADOFHISTIME ($5 with Palmerbet)
The Trevor Hardy-trained AHEADOFHISTIME in another Coffs Harbour invader who has a string of minor placings here and today, gets his chance to break the shackles and come away with his first win on Grafton soil. Last start, the Deep Field gelding was three starts into his preparation when he brought up his first win in more than a year. Engaging in a three-horse war, he nosed out the other two on the line to take the honours. He ran his last 600m, 3.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field, and posted the fastest final 800m sectional for the race as well. Six of his seven career wins have come on ‘soft’ tracks so conditions look ideal for him today. Ten starts at the track have resulted in five minor money finishes and drawn much better here in gate two, he should have plenty left for the run home and with a clear run he can figure here today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2: No.5 SHE’S REWARDING ($6.50 with Unibet)
Coffs Harbour galloper SHE’S REWARDING has found the podium on both occasions when racing here and looks well placed in this grade to stake a claim for victory today. Last start, the well-bred Reward For Effort mare came off her long-awaited maiden win at Port Macquarie when she finished mid-field in a Class 1 Hcp over 1526m at Lismore. That was her first looks at the Lismore track and her first unplaced run this preparation. The firmer Good 3 surface may have contributed to her downfall that day. Soft 5 conditions await her today and with Ray Spokes sticking with her, we could see improvement with her here.
