BEST BET 🏆
Race 1 : No. 2 DON’T FORGET DAD ($3.70 with Neds)
Taree galloper DON’T FORGET DAD makes his track debut today and brings with him a very impressive resume. Last start, the Casino Prince gelding ploughed through a Heavy 10 to win a Class 1 Hcp over the Gosford mile. He ran the fastest final 200m sectional in the race that day with Winona Costa in the saddle. The stable have fitted the lugging bit on him for the first time today as Costin sticks with him here. He boasts six podium finishes from seven starts on slow tracks so conditions are ideal for him today. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle just off the speed and with the form he is in, he should take a ton of beating here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 8 : No. 4 TIDAL RUSH ($6.50 with bet365)
The Brett Cavanough-trained TIDAL RUSH sees the Grafton track for the first time today and looks well placed to make it a winning debut. Last start, the Headwater gelding was third-up when he beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1450m at Muswellbrook. He ran a new personal best that day, covering the trip, 5.3 lengths slower than benchmark, third best here behind Wonderwhen who is second-up here and has gate 12 to contend with today. Cavanough has removed the nose roll and put the blinkers back on for today’s contest and from gate one, he gets the gun-run here and maps to settle near mid-field. With a little luck on straightening, all he needs is clean air and he should be there at the finish today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2 : No.6 GRAND SHANGHAI ($9 with Ladbrokes)
Eagle Farm visitor GRAND SHANGHAI is back for his second shot at victory on the Grafton track and has been knocking the door lately for his first success this preparation. Last start, the Declaration Of War gelding wasn’t far away when finishing fourth in a BM62 Hcp over 2150m at Ipswich. He ran the trip out, 4.2 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field. Drawn in gate five, he maps to settle better than mid-field (with cover). He is five starts into this campaign and should be at his peak for this contest. In from $15 in overnight markets, he looks great value here and is well worth an each-way ticket today.
