BEST BET 🏆

Race 4:  No.3  STUCK WITH YOU  ($1.95 with bet365)

The Matt Dunn-trained STUCK WITH YOU has found his mojo at the right time and looks a ‘shoe-in’ here to take home the Cup today. Last start, the NZ-bred gelding came off a big win at Murwillumbah when he took on a BM90 Hcp against city class at Doomben and where he came within half a length of back-to-back victories. Sent out at double-figure odds, he tried to lead all the way but the class in the race told over the final 100m and he was grabbed by the race-favourite (Seat Of Power), leaving him with second prize on the day. This is a sharp drop in grade and Matty McGuren returns for the today’s assignment. He draws gate six today and with other early speed in the race, may even take a sit behind the pace with cover. His two previous starts here ended in top-two finishes and he has had success over today’s journey as well. He looks the testing material in this contest.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8:  No.9  EASIER SAID  ($3 with Neds)

Eagle Farm-based galloper EASIER SAID is in great touch this time in and looks in the mix here. Last start, the All Too Hard mare came off her Maiden win at the Gold Coast when she faced a BM58 over the mile at the Sunshine Coast. Trapped three-wide (no cover) most of the way, she wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth, beaten less than two lengths on the line. Dropping back to country class today, she should find this assignment a little easier. Georgina Cartwright boasts a very successful record with the mare, with a win and two runner-up finishes coming from her three rides to date as she returns for the ride here. In her current form, she looks the one to beat.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.6  SHARKIM  ($5.50 with Palmerbet)

Gosford visitor SHARKIM is third-up today and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories in this contest. Last start, the Sharkbite gelding was second-up off a 12-week break and showed plenty of toe, leading all the way to take out a Class 2 Hcp over 1007m at Taree. He covered the trip, 1.2 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best in this field by more than 3 lengths. Seeing the Grafton track for the first time today, the competition looks no harder and he gets the gun-run from gate two. Mark Du Plessis has the reins for the first time and unbeaten in two starts on soft tracks, conditions look ideal. With a trouble-free run here, he looks a real threat at odds today.
