The Kris Lees-trained MAURICENTLY has mixed her form this preparation but still looks a genuine winning chance here. Last start, the Maurice mare was back on top of the ground at Port Macquarie where she went home with third prize in a Class 2 Hcp over 1500m. She raced ungenerously that day for Dylan Gibbons but still ran home well, covering her last 600m, half a length quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. She also posted the quickest final 200m sectional for the race. She will again appreciate the forecast Good 4 today and is joined by Andrew Mallyon for the first time. She makes her track debut here and rock-hard fit after four starts this time in, she should take beating here.

Race 4:  No.2  SHADOW PROJECT  ($9 with Palmerbet)

Gold Coast galloper SHADOW PROJECT has improved after four career-starts to date and looks well-placed here to shake that maiden monkey off his back today. Last start, the Artie Schiller gelding was ridden a treat by Tegan Harrison and looked home for all money as he ranged alongside the leader but just couldn’t go past him, having to settle for the bridesmaid’s cheque that day. Harrison sticks with him today and will be out to go one better here. He is seeing the Grafton the Grafton track for the first time today but rock-hard fit after those four runs, he looks ready to produce in this contest and is well worth an each-way ticket here.
