Race 7 No. 3 JUST A THEORY – ($2.60)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for JUST A THEORY. The Mitchell Freedman-trained galloper has been in excellent form this preparation, finishing in the top two in three of his five starts, while he had excuses in a couple of others. She broke the maiden in style at Hamilton two starts ago, winning by five lengths before heading to Geelong and finishing runner-up behind Boadicea. She went 1.4 lengths slower than standard in her recent run. That is three lengths better than the next best last start figure of any runner. Look for her to settle on the speed and be right in the thick of the action at the business end.

Race 8 No. 5 TRUE NOBILITY – ($3)

We close off with a BenchMark 58 over the 1100m and TRUE NOBILITY can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw him finish a narrow runner-up at Stawell. That came on January 6 over the 1100m and the four-year-old was posted three wide without cover but kept coming. He will strip fitter for this assignment and draws perfectly with Dean Yendall to steer

Race 2 No. 4 SABAR – ($3.20)

SABAR should be hard to beat in Race 2. The Lindsey Smith-trained galloper resumes and was solid at his only appearance, which was back in July. That came over the 1200m at Warrnambool and he settled back in the field of seven before producing the fastest late split to fill the exacta behind The Silent Sermon. He was well backed that day and went 3.1 lengths slower than standard, which is the second best figure that any horse in this race has produced. The four-year-old comes back gelded and the stable go for the blinkers.
