Our form expert provides Hawkesbury tips for today’s horse racing at Hawkesbury Racecourse and gives his best bets.
BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.3 ROSOVO ($4.80 with Neds)
The James Cummings-trained ROSOVO is third-up today and yet to miss a podium finish this preparation, looks ideally placed to bring up career-win number three here. Last start, the Animal Kingdom gelding stormed home to grab third money in a BM68 Hcp, here over the 1500m trip. He ran the fastest final 200m sectional for that race where he was beaten less than a length on the line. Already a winner when third-up and placed twice in two starts at Hawkesbury, he has runs on the board to take this out today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.7 MONASTERY ($5.50 with Unibet)
The David Payne-trained MONASTERY is third-up today and already a winner at the track, looks ready to ring-up another victory in this contest. Last start, the So You Think gelding took on an ambitious challenge when second-up, he contested the Group 2 Callander-Presnell (1600m) at Randwick. Sent out a $61 chance, he finished mid-field, beaten ten lengths in the event. Prior to that, he strung together three podium finishes, including a maiden win here. This is a massive drop in grade today and a much more suitable challenge. Fitter for two runs back and already a winner when third-up, he looks a genuine contender today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.8 THE MAXINATOR ($7 with Palmerbet)
Gary Portelli saddles-up THE MAXINATOR here who is second-up today and ticks enough boxes to warrant plenty of respect in this contest. Last start, the Dream Ahead gelding was fresh off a lengthy 19-week break when he took on a BM64 Hcp and finished mid-field in the 1200m event at Kembla Grange. He finished well that day, running his last 600m, 5.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Jason Collett returns for the today’s assignment (having already ridden him to victory here previously), and ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to stay out of trouble there and settle better than mid-field with cover. Already a winner when second-up and a winner at the track and distance, he looks good value at (currently) better than each-way odds and is well worth a ticket here.
