The John O’Shea-trained AWESOME JOHN is in career-best form of late and looks to have a handle on this contest today. Last start, the Awesome Rock gelding made it a hat-trick of podium finishes when he took home third prize in a Three-Year-Old Hcp at Warwick Farm over the mile. He drew the outside gate that day and spotted them too much start in the end. He still covered the journey 1.9 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. The stable has faith in his ability and has put him up in distance here but does get a little weight relief. He returns to the provincial racing scene today and should find this challenge a little less daunting. With Reece Jones in the saddle, he looks a genuine winning chance.

Race 4:  No.2  MR BINGO  ($3.70 with Palmerbet)

Wyong galloper, MR BINGO, is unbeaten at the track and distance and looks well placed here to remain that way after this event. Last start, the Deep Field gelding came off a win here in Class 1 company when he fared well in city company, finishing third in a BN64 over 1100m at Warwick Farm. He covered that trip, half a length quicker than benchmark, which was a new personal best and the best last-start effort here by more than 4 lengths. He carries just a half kilo more today (after Jackson Searle’s claim) and gets the gun-run from gate two, mapping to settle on speed. With a trouble-free run here, it could be win number three for this campaign.
