Many of the Hong Kong Classic Mile runners are backing-up here with the first three placegetters in this contest guaranteed a start in the Hong Kong Derby (24 March) and we are running with the John Size-trained HELIOS EXPRESS who looks set to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Toronado gelding was ridden the perfect race by Hugh Bowman. Box-seating to the turn, he was eased off the fence and soon after joined the leaders, then gave them the go-by and went on to win by almost two lengths on the line. Bowman remains the pilot today and under similar set-weights conditions, its hard to see a different result coming out of this event.

Race 8: No.4 GALAXY PATCH
The Pierre Ng-trained GALAXY PATCH is a Sha Tin specialist and in top-shelf form this time in, looks the testing material here. Last start, the Wandjina gelding came of a hat-trick of wins and wasn’t disgraced when finishing second behind Howdeepisyourlove in a Class 2, here over 1200m. They flew over the 1200m that day, clocking 1:08.9 for the trip. Karis Teetan has been aboard for all four victories on this track and steers the ship again today. Seven career starts have led to five wins and that last start second and he looks all set here for win number six in this contest.

Race 5: No.10 MY FLYING ANGEL
Frankie Lor has a new addition to his stables as MY FLYING ANGEL makes his Hong Kong debut today and after several impressive trials, looks a real winning chance today. Formerly racing in Australia as Masonry (for the Petter Moody team), the three-year-old never missed a podium finish in four starts before leaving Australian soil and has settled in well to the Hong Kong scene. Andrea Atzeni is the first to ride the Zoustar gelding and fares well at the barrier, drawing gate five for this contest. With four trials behind him since arriving, he should give us a bold sight at odds today.
