Race 5:  No.7  RED HARE KING

The Tony Cruz-trained RED HARE KING is as honest as they come with five-straight podium finishes next to his name and looks well placed here to make it six tonight. Last start, the So You Think gelding cost himself the race when he finished on the wrong side of the ledger, in a three-horse battle, beaten a head on the line. Travelling well in transit, he sat two pairs back with Alex Badel in the saddle but took the home turn ‘via the cape’ and was the widest as they straightened. Three of them settled down to fight it out and he looked like he had them covered but just petered out in the last 50m and had to settle third prize in a three-way photo finish. He draws well again in gate four and welcomes a new pilot with Matty Chadwick back in the saddle for his sixth ride on the four-year-old. If he can corner better tonight, he is certainly a winning chance in this line up.

Race 8:  No.3  SURE JOYFUL

The Ricky Yiu-trained SURE JOYFUL has been racing without much luck of late but with Hugh Bowman returning for tonight’s assignment, his luck could turn around in this contest. Last start, the Tarzino gelding found the podium for the fifth-straight time when he beat all but one home in a Class 4, here over the 1650m trip. Coming from mid-field on the corner, he managed to pass all in front of him, except Noble Pursuit who had a winning break on them and went on with it across te line. There’s no Noble Pursuit tonight and he is bringing the best form into this event. Bowman has ridden the galloper once previously, steering him to victory that day at Sha Tin. In career-best form, he looks right in the mix here.

Race 4:  No.6  ACT OF FAITH 

The John Size-trained ACT OF FAITH has been consistent this time in and down in weight tonight, looks a strong chance for victory in this contest. Last start, the Press Statement gelding scored his eighth podium finish at the track when he took home third prize in a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m with Brenton Avdulla aboard. Ridden a treat, the five-year-old settled two pairs back on the fence and ran home strongly to be beaten less than two lengths on the line. He draws out tonight and maps to settle mid-field with cover. Avdulla sticks with him, having his eighth ride on the gelding. He is as honest as they come and with a trouble-free run here, he can figure in the outcome of this event.
