BEST BET 🏆
Race 9: No.2 BEAUTY TYCOON ($2.80 with Unibet)
The John Size-trained BEAUTY TYCOON is in ever-consistent form boasting podium finishes in seven of his past eight starts and looks the best of the night. Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding clobbered a Class 3 field when he put almost two lengths on them, here over the 1200m trip. He ran that out, 6.3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort by 2 lengths here and a new personal best for him as well. Zac Purton steered him to that victory and sticks with him tonight. He carries 3kgs more but is ideally drawn in gate two and certainly looks the one to beat.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No. 4 CALIFORNIA DEEPLY ($3 with Palmerbet)
The Tony Cruz-trained CALIFORNIA DEEPLY is third-up tonight and coming off a last-start win, looks set for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the Deep Field gelding drew the car park (11 of 13) and unable to cross or go the early speed, dropped back to near last, spotting them over a dozen lengths passing the 800m mark. Turning for home, he had just two behind him and still eight lengths off the leader. Looking 100-1 passing the 300m mark, he grew another leg and stormed home (between runners) to grab victory right on the line. He ran that out, 5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best here by 2 lengths and a new personal best for him. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. He draws much better tonight in gate five and although carrying more weight, he should be at his peak now and will take beating here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.3 RAINBOW LIGHT ($10 with bet365)
The Doug Whyte-trained RAINBOW LIGHT has found his mojo for this preparation and looks well placed here (at odds) to go on with it tonight. Last start, the five-year-old added to his handsome Happy Valley stats by grabbing victory on the line in a Class 4 Hcp, here over the mile trip. He ran his last 600m, 5.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Lyle Hewitson rode him a treat that night and retains the ride in this event. He is up in weight here but rock-hard fit from four runs this time in, he will be in this contest to the end and is well worth an each-way ticket tonight.
