BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.3 BUNDLE OF CHARM ($2.40 with bet365)
Resuming from the season break, the John Size-trained BUNDLE OF CHARM has won two if his three career starts to date (both on this track) and if he can start well here, he should be right in the firing line for victory today. Last start, the All Too Hard gelding closed off last season in glory when he walloped a Class 4 field, he over 1200m. With Zac Purton aboard that day, he lumped 61kgs to cross the line five lengths ahead of the field. He set a new personal best in the process, running the trip, 5.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, also the best here. Alex Badel has the reins today (with Purton riding the topweight), and with his early gate speed, he maps to be in the first four on settling. He won on debut and looks set to win on fresh legs again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9: No.6 WHIZZ KID ($4 with bet365)
The Tony Cruz-trained WHIZZ KID ended last season winning four of his last six starts (placed in the other two) and on fresh legs here, will take catching today. Last start, the Shalaa gelding flew the gates but was headed on settling, leaving him a length back. But on straightening, he had plenty of clean air and daylight in front of him and taking advantage of that, soon took over and left the rest to sort out the minors. He is a front-running type who has missed a podium finished just twice in his 11 career starts to date and from gate three today, he gets the gun-run, will most likely lead on setting, and take catching from there.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No. 3 LUCKY FUN ($11 with bet365)
Resuming here today, the Peter Ho-trained LUCKY FUN races best when fresh and looks well placed here to make an impression on fresh legs. His last preparation didn’t set the world on fire, missing the top-four in all four starts. Prior to that, he was on fire. He races on the all-weather (dirt) track today where two of his career wins were recorded. He has placed twice when first-up and is a three-time winner at the track and distance. He trialled here recently and finished second over the 1200m run. He maps to settle better than mid-field from gate six and (currently) at double-figure odds, looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
