The Jamie Richards-trained GALLANT VALOUR is in career-best form this time in and looks well placed here for back-to-back success tonight. Last start, the Heroic Valour colt made it five-straight podium finishes this preparation when he finished third in a Class 4, here in his first attempt at the mile trip. Jumping from the car park in gate 12, he settled second-last a dozen lengths off the pace. He turned for home with two behind him and while never a winning chance from there, he stormed home to grab third prize on the line. It’s a different story tonight where he draws ideally in gate three and has Zac Purton as the pilot for this assignment. Five starts at this track have resulted in a win and four minor placings and with a good run in transit tonight, he looks very hard to beat here.

Race 9:  No.10  SOLAR PARTNER

The Ricky Yiu-trained SOLAR PARTNER has finally found his mojo this time in and looks well suited in this contest to do it all again tonight. Last start, the Zoustar gelding came off three-straight unplaced runs at Sha Tin when he returned to Happy Valley and turned it all around. Settling a little worse than mid-field, Hugh Bowman played the waiting game and as it panned out, made the right decision. In the run to the line, he stormed home out wide to win by two lengths, eased over the line. With Bowman currently suspended, Zac Purton steps-up to the plate and takes the reins for this assignment and from gate seven, just needs some clean air in the run home to make it two-straight tonight.

Race 8:  No.8  SAMARKLAND 

David Hayes saddles-up SAMARKLAND here who is high-flying this time in and looks every chance of going back-to-back tonight. Last start, the Mongolian Khan gelding bounced back from an unplaced effort at Sha Tin where and did best to win a Class 4, here over the 1650m trip. He dropped back from the 1800m at Sha Tin and with a slow tempo set early, he took advantage of it as Jerry Chau had him box-seating in the. They sprinted soon after straightening, seeing the five-year-old finish best in the end. Chau remains the pilot tonight and from gate six, maps to be box-seating again. His last three victories have all come on this track and with a trouble-free run in this contest, he can frank that last-start effort and do it again here at great odds.
