BEST BET 🏆
Race 8: No.4 ENCOUNTERED ($4.40 with Ladbrokes)
The Manfred Man-trained ENCOUNTERED is second-up off the season break and well placed here for a bold showing. Last start, the Irish-bred galloper wasn’t disgraced when finishing third (on fresh legs) in a Class 3 contest, here over 1400m. He had it all to do after drawing the outside gate (12) and with Matthew Poon in saddle, finished strongly to be beaten just over a length on the line. Ideally drawn in gate two today, Poon remains aboard and already a winner when second-up and at the track and distance as well, he can give this a real shake today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 9: No.7 GOLDEN EMPIRE ($7 with Neds)
Francis Lui saddles-up two here with GOLDEN EMPIRE boasting the far better resume. Last start, the Fastnet Rock gelding ended a long campaign when finishing fifth in a Class 3 Hcp, here over the mile trip. The four-year-old has had just eight career starts, (all on the Shar Tin track), and has saluted three times, with another three podium finishes on his resume as well. Two-time winning rider, Ruan Maia, returns for this event and will be out to keep the galloper’s track and distance record intact, which currently reads, four starts for two wins and two minor placings. He finished third in a recent trial and should be ready to perform here today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.3 FLYING SEASON ($6 with bet365)
Another from the Manfred Man stable is FLYING SEASON who resumes from the season break today and boasting a good track record, looks a solid chance here at odds. Last start, the Exosphere galloper ended the season poorly, finishing second-last (of 12) in a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m, on the Happy Valley track. He was ordered to trial before returning and showed no abnormalities on the Sha Tin track. His four starts here over today’s distance resulted in two wins and two runner-up finishes so we can expect a big improvement today. Silvestre de Sousa has the reins for the first time and with a touch of luck from his draw, he looks a worthy each-way investment here.
