BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.2  NIMBLE NIMBUS  ($4.20 with BlueBet)

Second-up today, the Ricky Yiu-trained NIMBLE NIMBUS is a real track lover who has come back in great touch and will take beating in this contest. Last start, the Sacred Falls gelding was fresh off a 14-week spell when he proved too strong in a Class 3, here over 1650m, crossing the line a length clear with Derek Leung in the saddle. He showed a great turn of foot in the run home, covering the last 600m, 8.5 lengths quicker then benchmark, the best in this field. His overall effort of running 3.6 lengths quicker than standard benchmark was a new personal best as well. He also posted the fastest final 800m and 400m sectionals for the race. Leung remains aboard for today’s assignment where he draws gates six and maps to settle in the first half-dozen. He strips fitter after that first-up run and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to hold out here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 9:  No.3  MAJESTIC STAR  ($4.60 with bet365)

Race 9 – GUANGZHOU HANDICAP CLASS 2 (1200M)
Dropping back in class today, the Danny Shum-trained MAJESTIC STAR looks ideally placed in this company for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding was second-up where he showed enough improvement to take out a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m with Harry Bentley in the saddle. Jumping the widest of the seven runners that day, he was vetted pre-race (after an incident behind the gates), passed fit to run, then came out and put more than two lengths on them across the line. He ran his last 600m, an impressive 11.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Bentley sticks with him here and if he can reproduce that last-start effort while dropping down in class today, he should give us a great run for our money today.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7:  No.5  ABOVE  ($11 with Unibet)

The Tony Millard-trained ABOVE is third-up today and ticks all the boxes that lead to another Happy Valley win. Last start, the Tavistock gelding showed plenty of improvement when second-up by finishing third in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1800m. He ran the trip out, 5.8 lengths quicker than benchmark, third-best here behind Nearly Fine (who carries 6.5kgs, or a stone on the old scale, more than his last-start win today). Above also boasts a personal best over 2200m of finishing 9 lengths quicker than standard benchmark, which is the best on this field. Already a winner when third-up and a three-time winner at the track and distance, he is ideally drawn in gate four today and should take beating here.
