Race 7:  No.10  ROCK YA HEART  ($5.50 with Unibet)

Another from the Lui stable is ROCK YA HEART who is three starts into this preparation and improving with each run, looks ready to win tonight. Last start, the I Am Invincible gelding showed signs of his best when he beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1000m. He ran that out, 7.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field and set a new personal best as well. Vince Ho sticks with him here after steering him to five podium finishes (including a win) from his seven rides to date. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen (on the fence) where he will save plenty of ground. With just a little luck on straightening here, he will be at his peak and can finish over the top of them tonight.

Race 8:  No.11  LUCKY DIAMOND  ($12 with Palmerbet)

The Jimmy Ting-trained LUCKY DIAMOND is third-up tonight and being a track specialist, he looks hard to beat. Last start, the six-year-old came off a solid win, here in Class 4 company when he made the transition to Class 3 grade. Not disgraced, he finished a gallant fourth in the 1800m event, beaten less than two lengths on the line. He is a four-time winner at Happy Valley, three of those victories came over the track and distance. He meets first and third from that last start better at the weights tonight and has Luke Currie sticking with him. Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to be box-seating most of the way and should that eventuate, he will take beating tonight at juicy each-way odds here.

Race 6:  No.7  DINKUM  ($41 with bet365) 

Francis Lui saddles-up DINKUM here for his second start on Hong Kong soil and fitter for his debut run, he looks a sneaky chance at big odds tonight. The Star Witness gelding ended his Australian racing career with an all-the-way win over 1400m on the Hillside track at Sandown. Racing as ‘Jester’ he hung on gamely to win the class 1 event, coming off a Maiden win at Ballarat. Last start, he made his Hong Kong debut on the Sha Tin track where he drew wide (10 of 12) and settled well back, three wide without cover. Turning for home (and no chance of winning), he still hit the line strongly and after trailing by a dozen lengths at one stage, he finished 3.5 lengths from the winner, with plenty of gas left in the tank. He ran his last 600m, 6.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here and will strip fitter for that run here. Already a winner when second-up, Jerry Chau has the reins tonight and with a better start here, he could really give this field a fright at long odds.
