Race 9:  No.6  RISE BRETHREN  ($3.60 with Neds)

The Danny Shum-trained RISE BRETHREN is in career-best form this time in and looks primed for another victory here tonight. Last start, the Lope De Vega gelding came off a Class 2 victory (over 1800m) at Sha Tin when he had to settle for second prize as Running Glory turned the tables on him over the same track and distance. He still ran his last 600m, 5.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up and posted the fastest final 200m sectional as well. Running Glory sits this one out tonight as James McDonald sticks with the four-year-old and from gate two, gets the gun-run and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence. He looks perfectly placed here to return to the winner’s circle tonight.

Race 8:  No.3  ADIOS  ($3.50 with Palmerbet)

Frankie Lor saddles-up ADIOS here who is in good touch after three starts this preparation and has plenty going for him tonight. Two starts back, the Snitzel gelding had an easy win here in Class 3 company, running 1:09 for the 1200m contest. Then last start, he carried 3kgs more and drew wide (in gate 10), but still managed a podium finish, taking home third prize on the night. Brazilian-born rider, Silvestre De Sousa, has his first ride on the four-year-old tonight and from gate four, maps to settle near mid-field in the run. Yet to miss a podium finish here and already a winner at the track and distance, fitter for those three runs, he will take beating tonight.

Race 7:  No.6  NIMBLE NIMBUS  ($6 with bet365)

Third-up tonight, the Ricky Yiu-trained NIMBLE NIMBUS ticks plenty of boxes here to suggest he will play a major role in the finish of this contest. Last start, the Sacred Falls gelding ran fourth (in a blanket finish) after taking off a long way from home and just running out of gas in the end. He still managed to cover his last 600m, 6.7 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Tonight, he has James McDonald on his back and gets the gun-run from gate two where he maps to settle a little closer to the speed. His seven starts on this track to date have resulted in two wins and three minor placings, putting him into the ‘track specialist’ category. Fitter for two runs back, he should prove hard to hold out here.
