BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.1 CLAIRVUE STAR ($2.20 with Palmerbet)
The Tony Gollan-trained CLAIRVUE STAR is second-up today and boasting a strong fresh record, looks right in the mix here. Formerly-trained by Kelly Schweida, the Sebring gelding resumed off a six-month break and on debut for his new stable, finished third in a BM65 Hcp over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. He ran his last 600m, half a length quicker than benchmark, the best here by more than 3 lengths. He has placed three times when second-up previously and found the podium on three occasions at the track as well. James Orman has his third ride on the five-year-old today and with a trouble-free run, he looks the one to beat here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.4 WEGOBAM ($5.50 with Palmerbet)
Recently transferring from the Team Corstens stable in Victoria, WEGOBAM has her second start for Gold Coast trainer Jack Bruce today and boasting a strong second-up record, looks a solid winning chance here. Last start, the Sebring mare came off a 20-week spell when she held her own, finishing fourth in a BM65 Hcp over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. She covered her final 600m, 4.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort in this field. Samantha Collett sticks with her today as she sees the Ipswich track for the first time. She is already a winner when second-up and a trouble-free run here should see her fight out the finish today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8: No.6 OVIDIUS ($6.50 with Ladbrokes)
The Kevin Kemp-trained OVIDIUS is in sensational form right now and in this sort of mood, he looks a real chance of victory here at odds today. Last start, the Snitzel gelding was shooting for a hat-trick when he had to settle for third prize in his first crack at Open Class company over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast. He fought on strongly in the run home and did well to be beaten just two lengths on the line. He ran the trip out, 1 length quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up. He also posted the fastest final 600m and 200m sectionals for the race. He faces similar company today but steps up to the 1200m trip where he is already a winner. Also a winner at the track, Montanna Savva sticks with him today and from gate four, he looks a serious player in this contest.
