BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.4 BOOGIELU ($2.45 with Palmerbet)
Gold Coast galloper BOOGIELU is in great touch this time with three victories from his five starts and looks well placed here to bring up another one. Last start, the Sooboog gelding clobbered his rivals in a BM70 Hcp, here over the 800m sprint. With Rikki Jamieson aboard for the first time, he settled in front and went on to an all the way win, putting two lengths on them across the line. The four-year-old maps to settle on-speed here and has Jamieson sticking with him. Yet to win back-to-back, today could be the day.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.8 BAY STREET ($4.20 with bet365)
The Marcus Wilson-trained BAY STREET is a track specialist and yet to miss a top-two finish in five starts this preparation, looks the one to beat again. Last start, the Star Witness gelding came off a hat-trick of runner-up finishes when he returned to the winner’s circle with an impressive victory in a Class 1/Maiden over 2020m at Murwillumbah. Tailed-off most of the way, the topweight spotted them a dozen lengths at one stage until Tegan Harrison wound him up. Turning for home, he loomed alongside the leader and it was a procession from there as he raced away for an easy win in the end. He is up in grade here but drops 2kgs today and welcomes a new rider with Boris Thornton in control. He already has three podium finishes here (from four starts at the track) and on form, he looks genuine winning chance again.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.6 NEOCLASSICISM ($6.50 with bet365)
The Robert Heathcote-trained NEOCLASSICISM has done everything but win this time in and today he gets his chance to finally break through for that elusive first victory. Last start, the Wandjina gelding made it three runner-up prizes from four starts this preparation when he beat all but one home in a 1400m Maiden Hcp at Eagle Farm. Never giving up, he chased the leader all the way home but was well beaten on the day. He should find this a little easier today as Ben Thompson sticks with him. Rock-hard fit after four starts in, he maps to settle near the speed and looks the one to beat today at odds.
