Race 4: No.5 CONTROLOCRACY ($2.70 with Neds)
The Annabel Neasham-trained CONTROLOCRACY is third-up today and in the small field here looks a major contender for the grand prize. Last start, the More Than Ready filly led and looked home for all money, but was swamped in the final 50m and missed a podium spot, taking home fourth prize, in a BM0-62 over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast. Brodie Loy retains the ride today and fitter for those two runs back, she can control the tempo and lead them a merry dance again. She should find this contest a little easier and is our best for the day.

Race 5: No.6 REGAL EDITION ($5.50 with Palmerbet)
The Lindsay Hatch-trained REGAL EDITION is second-up today and looks well placed here to go one better. Last start, the Rubick gelding was fresh off an 18-week spell when he beat all but one home in a Class 4 Plate over 1200m at Toowoomba. It was a big ask at that level on fresh legs but he ran his last 600m, 4.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. That’s an impressive effort on fresh legs. Jake Molloy retains the ride and from gate six, the five-year-old maps to settle near mid-field. Fitter for that first-up effort, he looks in the mix here.

Race 7: No.12 RAMOKA ($8.50 with Ladbrokes) (EACH-WAY)
The Chris Meagher-trained RAMOKA secures a run here (after early scratchings) and looks a real chance for the hat-trick today. Last start, the four-year-old came off a Beaudesert Maiden win and franked that victory by taking out a BM0-58 Hcp over 1350m at the Gold Coast. He ran that out, 2.3 lengths slower than benchmark, second-best here behind Hail To The Chief (whom he meets 4.5kgs better a t the weights today). That was also a new personal best for the gelding. Melea Castle was aboard for both of those runs and has the reins again today. He maps to settle near mid-field and with a little on the turn, he find some clean air and pose a real threat to this field. At odds today, he looks a worthwhile investment.
