BEST BET 🏆
Race 5: No.1 DATA PATCH ($2,40 with bet365)
Gold Coast galloper DATA PATCH has found the podium four times from his six career starts without winning but second-up here that can all change today. Formerly with the Ron Quinton stables in Sydney the Exceed And Excel gelding has his first start for new trainer Adam Campton and will line up today without the lugging bit or winkers in his seventh attempt to shake the maiden monkey. Last start, he saw a heavy track for the first time and didn’t take too kindly to it, finishing mid-field (beaten five lengths) in a 1200m Maiden at Kembla Grange. Since arriving at his new place of residence, he has trialled once, which resulted in a win over 900m on the Ipswich track with James Orman aboard. Orman sticks with him here and from gate five, he maps to settle mid-field and should find cover from there. Already seeing the track (after that trial), he knows the way around it now and should prove hard to beat on second-up legs today.

Race 2: No.7 DUBAI DEE (SCRATCHED)
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.13 STARS ‘N’ RICHES ($11 with bet365)
Team Sears have locked-in the services of Ben Thompson today as they saddle-up STARS ‘N’ RICHES for this contest. Last start, the Sidereus mare kept her run of ‘just missed’ efforts going as she finished just behind the placegetters (again) in a BM60 Hcp over 1100m at Toowoomba. She settled back in the field of ten, then swung the widest of all on the turn to make her run. Straightening, she was nearer the outside fence and wanted to hang in but once settled again, she hit the line strongly to finish fourth, just inches away from a spot on the podium. This run of outs can all change today. Ben Thompson is aboard for the first time and the mare gets the gun-run from gate one where she still maps to settle back in the field but will save plenty of ground near the (inside) fence. With a clear run to the line, she is capable of upsetting this field and (in from $17 yesterday) is well worth an each-way ticket today.
