Kalgoorlie Tips 1/10/2022
BEST BET 🏆
Race 3 No. 2 MEXI COLA ($4)
The progression reads well here for MEXI COLA who put the writing on the board here a fortnight ago. Trainer Rod Brown will have him set to peak now being fourth-up and out to the mile following three runs over shorter distances. Latest of which saw him down in the weights with Shaun O’Donnell in the saddle. The pair had settled back and wide for the open 1300m sprint with O’Donnell intent on cutting the corner to the better ground. Mexi Cola stormed home between runners as Nurhaci held his winning break. Brad Rawiller regains the mount as the gelding rises in weight with the pair drawn for a good run in transit.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 1 No. 1 STORM LORD – ($11)
Interested in the price about STORM LORD who sits firmly on the each-way line. Has shown good speed at all three runs to date, including on debut up the Pinjarra straight. Held on okay under Brad Parnham to hold third. Since stepped up to 1300 metres where Parnham found a forward spot with Storm Lord game into the straight until weakening inside the 100m. Victoria Corver gave him a lovely trail off an inside gate when racing back to the 1200 metres at Belmont to go down narrowly. Will look to cross and be in it for a long way.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2 No. 6 MAKFLY – ($16)
What price a barrier for MAKFLY? Trainer Helen Harding has sent her gelding around at his past couple while drawing the visitors her at Kalgoorlie. Did a fair bit of work under Chris Parnham to cross them through the early stages over the mile. Never really settled after that and never found as Feuding enjoyed the sweet run to put paid to them. Makfly wasn’t beaten far to the others and showed improvement at his next start over this track and distance. Parnham found some cover, albeit three-wide the entire while settling back in the field. The pair made an early race move to whip around them and hit the front prior to turning. The move nearly paid off except for Magic Will Reign who followed him through. Smaller field may afford Laqdar Ramoly the chance to cross without pressure off another outside draw.
