BEST BET 🏆

Race 5:  No.5  CRAZY RUSSIAN  ($4.40 with Neds)

The Rosehill-based CRAZY RUSSIAN has his second race start today and looks well placed in this company to go one better here. Last start, the Russian Revolution gelding made a successful debut to the track when he beat all but one to the line in a 1400m Maiden Plate at Goulburn. Coming from back in the field, he ran home strongly but was unable to reel in the leader that day. He did, however, post the fastest final 200m sectional for the race. An impressive start to his career and puts him in good steed for this contest. Andrew Adkins retains the ride and from gate three, he should prove hard to beat here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 7:  No.2  SPALTET  ($4.40 with Palmerbet)

Annabel Neasham saddles-up SPALTET here who is third-up today and looks ready to win. Last start, the Savabeel gelding had no luck in the run home but still managed to grab third prize in a Class 1 Hcp over the mile at Gosford. He finished well enough to record the fastest final 200m for the race that day. He has raced once at the 2000m distance where he covered the trip, 6.5 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field. Chad Schofield steps up to the plate for today’s ride as the five-year-old galloper gets the gun-run from gate one. He is Neasham’s only runner for the day and does look a serious contender for the major prize.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 3:  No.5  C’MON MATE  ($11 with Ladbrokes)

Local galloper, C’MON MATE has done enough in his three starts to date to suggest he can play a leading role in this contest. Last start, the Divine Prophet gelding made the podium for the first time when he beat all but one home in a Maiden Plate, here over 1200m. He ran that out, 6.5 lengths slower than benchmark, the best here and a new personal best as well. That was his first look at the track and today, drops in weight and has Shaun Guymer sticking with him for this assignment. Even fitter for those three runs, he knows his way around here now and at each-way odds, he looks well worth a ticket both ways today.
