BEST BET 🏆
Race 1: No.2 WESTERN FRONT ($2.70 with Unibet)
The Annabel Neasham-trained WESTERN FRONT is second-up here and will appreciate the rise in trip today. Last start, the Irish-bred gelding made his Australian debut and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth (of 10) in a Class 1 Hcp over the mile at Gosford. He ran out his last 600m, 3 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here while posting the fastest final 800m and 600m sectionals for the race. He steps up to the 2000m today where he has finished on the podium in all four runs over the trip. He is joined by Brett Prebble for today’s assignment and already a winner when second-up, he can improve enough to beat this field home.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2: No.2 NASDAQ DUBAI ($3.30 with Ladbrokes)
The Rosehill-based NASDAQ DUBAI has returned to racing in great style and in the small field here, looks well placed for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Not A Single Doubt galloper resumed after a two-year absence and showing no signs of fatigue, clobbered his rivals, here in a 1000m Maiden Hcp. He covered his final 600m, 4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field, while recording the fastest final 400m sectional for the race. While untried on rain affected tracks, he has the form on the board and with Lee Magorrian retaining the ride, he looks in the mix today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.3 EYEQUE ($3.60 with Palmerbet)
John Thompson saddles-up EYEQUE here and third-up today looks well placed for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Smart Missile gelding was having his fourth race-start when he broke through for his Maiden win, here over 1300m. He came off heels in the run home and finished best to claim victory by a length on the line. He covered that trip, 2.8 slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort in this line-up. Ideally drawn in gate two today, Brett Prebble has the reins for this contest and with a trouble-free run here, he can take this one out.
