ANCHOR BET ⚓
Race 1: No.5 MEMORIA ($1.60 with Unibet)
The Kris Lees-trained MEMORIA has shown plenty of promise at her first two career starts and looks all set to go on with it here. Last start, the American-bred filly came off an impressive maiden win on debut at Tamworth when she took on a Class 1 field at Muswellbrook over the 1000m sprint. She ran a solid race coming from near mid-field to beat all but one home, beaten less than half a length on the line. She ran that trip out, 3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best here by more than 6 lengths. The three-year-old is stepping up in grade again here but will strip even fitter after those two runs. Kacie Adams is the only rider to partner the filly so far and remains in saddle again. Ideally drawn in gate four, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and looks the best of the day. Use her as the anchor leg for your multibets today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.1 RUN RORY RUN ($2.60 with Ladbrokes)
The Port Macquarie-based RUN RORY RUN makes his track debut here and second-up today looks a strong winning chance in this line-up. Last start, the Worthy Cause gelding came off a lengthy 22-week break and on fresh legs, broke through for his maiden win over 1206m on his home track. He ran the final 600m, 1.6 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best in this field by more than 3 lengths. He drew wide that day (gate 11 of 12) and used up a lot of early fuel to cross and settle outside the leader. Matty McGuren is back aboard today and from gate six, he maps to settle in a similar spot to last start. Scratched from the harder assignment in race one (a Class 2 event), he will find this a little easier and looks the one to beat.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 6: No.6 MOON OVER ALICE ($6 with Palmerbet)
The former Victorian galloper, MOON OVER ALICE resumes today and boasting a solid fresh record, looks right in the mix here. Last start, the Your Song mare was having her last start for Warrnambool trainer Daniel Bowman when she ended that campaign by finishing second in BM68 Hcp over 1203m during a quick visit to Mount Gambier in South Australia. During her eight-week let-up, she transferred to the John Sprague stables at Port Macquarie and has her first start for the new trainer here. Three previous first-up runs have resulted in a win and runner-up finish so she can perform on fresh legs. Ray Spokes has the reins today and down in grade here, she can give this contest a real shake.
