Race 2:  No.1  BONDURANT  ($2.80 with TAB)

The Jared Wehlow-trained BONDURANT makes the seven-hour trek south today and sees the Kilcoy track for the first time and in his current form, is sure to make an impact in this contest. Last start, the Contributor gelding continued the good form when he demolished his rivals in a BM60 Hcp over 1800m at Mackay. With Ryan Wiggins aboard, he put 5.5 lengths on the field in a true demonstration of staying ability. Being sent out the $2.25 favourite, he gave supporters no cause for alarm, posting the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race in the process. He has extra weight to carry today but this looks no harder than his last conquest and he should prove hard to beat again.

Race 6:  No.4  PENNYWORTH  ($2.70 with Ladbrokes)

In career-best form this time in, the Toowoomba-based PENNYWORTH ticks all the boxes here to suggest she is the one to catch in this contest. Last start, the four-year-old mare came off three-straight minor placings when she finally cracked it for her first win this preparation, destroying a BM60 field, here over 1500m, seeing the Kilcoy track for the first time. With apprentice Emily Lang on board, she put more than three lengths on them as she crossed the line that day. She covered the trip, 6 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best effort in this field, while recording the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race as well. From gate three, the mare maps to settle in the first half of the field and should enjoy a sit with cover. Lang retains the ride today and with a clear run to the line, should prove hard to hold out again.

Race 4:  No.5  HEROIC MISS  ($3.20 with Palmerbet)

The Chris Munce-trained HEROIC MISS is first-up today and with Ryan Wiggins aboard, looks a genuine winning chance here. Last start, the Heroic Valour filly ended her last campaign beating all but one home in a fillies Maiden over 1350m at Ipswich. Trying to lead all the way, she fought hard in the run home but was edged out, beaten a head on the line. She comes off a 16-week break finishing second in a recent trial. Although drawn wide here, early scratchings sees almost half the 16-strong field missing for this event which makes her job a lot easier. If she finds the front, she could prove hard to run down here.
