Our form expert provides Kilcoy tips for today’s horse racing at Kilcoy Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.2  SPICY SONIC  ($2.80 with bet365)

SPICY SONIC has his first start for Annabel Neasham today and looks well placed in this easier assignment to bring up win number two here. Last start, the Outreach gelding came off a first-up maiden win at the Sunshine Coast when stepped-up sharply in grade and found that Class 2 challenge a little too rich, finishing mid-field in the 1350m event at the Gold Coast. He ran it out, 2.8 lengths slower than benchmark, still more than 3 lengths quicker than this field. After early scratchings, the wide draw is taken out of the equation here and Jag Guthmann-Chester is an added bonus. Neasham has had a month to work with the four-year-old and fitter for two runs back, we will see what he’s got under the bonnet today.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.7  ROCKATANSKY  ($7 with Unibet)

Sunshine Coast galloper ROCKATANSKY is three starts into this preparation and facing an easier assignment today, looks a serious threat to his rivals here. Last start, the Wanted gelding finished mid-field in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m on his home track. On an un-preferred heavy track, he ran it out, 8.5 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here. The stable have put the blinkers back on him today and ideally drawn in gate two today, he will give this a real shake at odds.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9:  No.6  KINGS ROW  ($8 with bet365)

One for the value hunters today could be the Ipswich-based KINGS ROW who ticks enough boxes here to make this look very interesting. Last start, the Uncle Mo gelding was never comfortable when finishing fifth (beaten less than two lengths) in a BM62 Hcp over the mile at Beaudesert. On a Soft 7, he collided with the eventual winner several times in the run home, losing all momentum and dropped out of the battle. He races best over further ground which he gets today. Two starts at the track have resulted in a win and a runner-up finish as Michael Hellyer sticks with him here. Already a winner when third-up, he looks a sound each-way investment today.
