Race 7 No. 5 STARLEA- ($3.20)

STARLEA shapes as a solid prospect in Race 7 at Kyneton. The Matthew Ellerton-trained mare has had three runs this time in and had excuses in the first two of those before bumping into the impressive Vermentino at Sandown on November 23 over the 1200m. The winner out of that has since scored comfortably at BenchMark 70 level on Wednesday. Starlea went a healthy 6.2 lengths faster than standard benchmark last time and that is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. A firmer in the betting, she should be cherry ripe at her fourth run this time in.

Race 4 No. 2 DANIHER- ($3.70)

Not the strongest maiden here and DANIHER can capitalise. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper gives the impression that he should be suited by the step up to the 1850m and has been solid late in his recent runs. He was doing his best work late two starts ago over the 1425m at Geelong before stepping up to the 1590m at Wangaratta and running on from the tail at the 400m to land 4th, beaten just under two lengths by Rajnish, who has since gone on to win at Bendigo, while the runner-up out of that has gone on to claim his maiden. The son of Fighting Sun will get back from the gate but should be hard to hold out late in the piece.
