Mackay Tips 13/03/2023

Our form expert provides Mackay tips for today’s horse racing at Mackay Racecourse and gives his best bets.

Race 4:  No.1  MILO MAN  ($1.70 with Ladbrokes)

Rockhampton galloper MILO MAN now has a very long picket fence alongside his name (winning his past six starts) and today, that doesn’t look like changing. Last start, the Moshe gelding stepped-up from a Class 4 to Open company and had little trouble putting that field away in the 1200m Hcp event on his home track. He ran it out, 5.3 lengths slower than benchmark, still the best last-start effort here by 3 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 600m and 200m sectionals for the race. He made his Mackay debut four starts back, which resulted in a comfortable win against Class 3 company over the 1300m trip. He drops in grade here and has Ash Butler on board for the first time. From gate four, he should have little trouble leading this lot on settling and then they will have the job of running him down, and good luck with that.

Race 7:  No.4  TYCOON FURY  ($3.40 with Palmerbet)

The Jamie McConachy-trained TYCOON FURY is unbeaten since resuming this time in and is a solid chance of bringing up the hat-trick here today. Last start, the Tycoon Ruler gelding franked his first-up win when he destroyed a BM55 field, here over 1100m. It was an impressive Mackay debut, as he put 3.5 lengths on them over the line. He ran his final 600m, 1 length quicker than benchmark, the best in this line-up by more than 4 lengths. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. He carried 61kgs that day, along with Ash Butler who sticks with him here. Should he bring the same attitude into this contest, he will take a ton of beating again.
